Nurses

EQUASHIELD®'s cutting-edge offering consists of easy-to-use solutions for administering hazardous drugs, ensuring safety for nursing staff and their patients.

Our CSTD is the Most Closed System on the Market

Equashield's innovative and uniquely designed products offer easy-to-use solutions for administering hazardous drugs, keeping both nursing staff and patients, safe.

Safety for you and your patients

EQUASHIELD® covers more routes of exposure than alternative systems during administration thanks to our closed-back Syringe Unit. Our system prevents contact with hazardous drug vapor coming from the back of a syringe when delivering a push. A unique locking mechanism with dual membrane provides leak free and dry disconnections.  Our patented and fully-closed CSTD has minimal pieces required to administer a drug safely, allowing nurses to focus on what really matters, their patients.

Fully-Closed

A fully preassembled syringe with welded connector eliminates a need for additional setup and a traditional syringe.
Our syringe prevents accidental luer disconnections to avoid spills and exposure.
Plunger rod can never be detached from the syringe, thus preventing spills.
The system saves valuable set up time by eliminating a need to open additional packages, drawing up air or assembling components.

Syringe Unit (SU)

EQUASHIELD®’s fully encapsulated Syringe Units prevent syringe plunger contamination caused by hazardous drug handling. The system is equipped with a built-in closed pressure equalization with sterile air. The connector is permanently bonded onto the syringe body preventing accidental disconnections and house shielded needles to prevent the risk of accidental needle sticks.

Luer Lock Adaptor (LL-1)

EQUASHIELD®’s Luer Lock Adaptor and Female Luer Lock Connector are designed to convert any standard luer lock port into a closed system connection for leak-free and dry connection The LL-1 Adaptor is locked onto a patient line for safe injection via a Syringe Unit (SU) or for safe infusion via anFC-1 or FC-1S connected at the end of an IV Bag line.

Female Connector (FC-1 & FC-1S)

EQUASHIELD®’s Luer Lock Adaptor and Female Luer Lock Connector are designed to convert any standard luer lock port into a closed system connection for leak-free and dry connection. EQUASHIELD® Female Connectors, FC-1 and FC-1S provides a connection at the end of an IV line that cannot be disconnected, ensuring compliance during administration and reducing the risk of accidental disconnections. FC-1 is a standard connector, while FC-1S is a free swiveling connector; both are designed to prevent unintended disconnections.

Assessing the Efficiency of CSTDs for Compounding

Ensuring the safe handling of hazardous drugs  must be a primary concern for every health care worker who comes into contact with these medications. Given the inherent risk involved in administrating hazardous drugs, a fully closed system provides healthcare workers with  protection and peace of mind.

Fully-Closed

The EQUASHIELD® Syringe Unit is the only closed-back Syringe Unit that contains hazardous vapor within the unit itself versus air-cleaning technology and/or open back syringes.

Secure

Starting with our seamlessly designed closed-back Syringe Unit with welded connector, through our family of components that lock and spin, we provide highly secure compounding solutions. A unique design prevents accidental disconnections and eliminates the need to manually luer on a connector to a traditional open-back syringe.

Time Saving

Peer-reviewed studies demonstrate efficiencies and time saving benefits achieved by user-friendly design and ergonomics. For example, our proprietary Syringe Unit is available in two 60 mL configurations, both allowing for full volume use, without repetitive steps or accidental disconnections.
